When Banner, a fast-growing company based in Utah with customers across California, needed to expand their team, COO and co-founder Nate Sorensen faced common scaling obstacles. Traditional hiring in Utah County came with frustrating inefficiencies: candidates frequently no-showed for interviews, and the recruiting process dragged on for weeks. The company needed reliable team members quickly, but initial hesitations about offshore hiring quality held them back.
“Maybe I was the only one left in business avoiding offshore hiring,” said Nate, “but I was worried if the quality would be any good.”
Previous experiences with typical offshore providers had been disappointing. While the cost savings were undeniable, other offshoring companies created management barriers that prevented Banner from directly training employees or addressing performance issues effectively.
Bloom’s quality of candidates was different
When Nate discovered Bloom, he decided to try it out despite his reservations on the quality of offshoring because Bloom allowed him to maintain control of his team members while still reaping the cost-saving benefits of offshoring.
“From Day One, the process was very reassuring,” said Nate. “Bloom was able to show a confidence in their candidates that I don’t really get from other offshore companies I’ve talked to.”
"We love the model," Nate explained. "I've done a lot of work in the past with offshore people, and it's kind of comical the contrast in how working with them is different than Bloom. The quality of candidates is just different because of where you source them."
What set Bloom apart was its direct management model, giving Banner full control over training and day-to-day operations.
Bloom is “good for our business”
In addition to the management layer, Bloom has made Nate’s life easier in a few ways:
- Faster recruiting: "The time savings in terms of recruiting and finding candidates are massive," Nate noted. "If I message Bloom, I could have interviews by the end of the week, and then someone could start training on Monday."
- Higher retention: The Bloom team members love their jobs and are highly motivated to succeed. Nate said that he’s shifted his mindset to view them as “bridge roles” and hopes to promote them and keep them on long-term.
- Less interview no-shows: “We’ve done probably 20 interviews and there’s only been one where they didn’t show up,” said Nate. “For me, that’s a way better ratio of what you get trying to fill an entry-level role in Utah county.”
- Quick learning curve: Nate has found that Bloom employees "learn really quickly,” even "a lot quicker than some of our other employees here in the US" — reducing training time.
- Enriched company culture: While Nate acknowledged that the price point was why he brought on Bloom team members initially, he loves how they “add to the culture of the company” and increase the diversity of the team.
Today, Banner considers Bloom their go-to solution for roles where both cost-effectiveness and quality matter—proving that offshore hiring done right delivers genuine business impact.
“Bloom to me is pure reliability,” said Nate. “It's been really good for our business."
How Banner and Bloom are making an impact
Before joining Banner through Bloom, Angy Lima, a 23-year-old from Guatemala, was stuck in an exhausting routine. Her previous job required her to leave home at 3:00 AM, spending up to three hours in traffic just to reach the office, and then returning at 8:00 PM. The long commute left her drained, with little time for her studies, exercise, or family.
“I started to worry about my health,” Angy recalled. “I was eating fast food every day, barely sleeping, and didn’t have time to study or spend time with my family.”
Everything changed when Angy found her remote role with Banner Pest Services through Bloom. She was hired as a Customer Service Representative.
Working from home transformed not only her daily routine but also her financial stability. Instead of spending on gas, parking, and food, Angie now saves money, earns more, and has the freedom to invest in herself.
“Before, I lived paycheck to paycheck,” she explained. “Now, I see my paycheck as an opportunity to invest, to grow, and to enjoy life. I even signed up for Pilates classes!”
Her remote role also helped her improve her college grades in clinical psychology, as she now has the time and focus to study effectively.
Today, Angy is thriving—healthier, happier, and more confident in her future. Her story reflects the larger impact Bloom and Banner are creating together: empowering deserving people in emerging markets to significantly improve their standards of living through dignified work and reach their full potential.
